SAFFRON Centre has qualified therapists that provide counselling for individuals and families working with various methodologies and specialties.

Roots of Healing:
A therapeutic group for women who are survivors of sexual abuse or sexual assault.
Healing from the Hurt:
An ongoing group offered for parents and caregivers of children who have been sexually abused. Support and court accompaniment is provided for participants as they deal with involvement as victims in the criminal justice system. |

ONYX Teen Girls Group: a program for young women dealing with various issues faced by teen girls today.
Topics include:
o Self-esteem
o Body awareness
o Media influences
o Setting personal boundaries
o Being safe in a digital world
ONYX is offered at the SAFFRON Centre and other locations including Fort Saskatchewan Boys
and Girls Club. Various program options include:
o ONYX – 11-14 years
o ONYX – 12-15 years
o Power of ONYX – 16-21 years of age – this group is for teens who have been in group homes or foster care and are now learning to become independent
o ONYX – Journey to Empowerment – for teens with FASD and ADHD
o Spirit of ONYX – for aboriginal teens
o ONYX for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teens – available upon request
o ONYX – One-to-One – individual sessions to provide support and education for teens to deal with various issues |

LV8 (Elevate): a new group starting in February 2012. This group will work with teen boys, teaching strategies to help young men deal with the issues they are facing. This interactive and physical program will address the following topics:
o Communicating respectfully
o Understanding feelings and issues of anger
o Healthy relationships and boundaries
o Internet Safety – communicating safely in a digital world
LV8 will be offered for different age levels in 8 week sessions at SAFFRON and other locations including Fort Saskatchewan. A male and female co-facilitator will lead the group. |

SAFFRON offers expertise in counselling services through Health Canada: Inuit and First Nations. SAFFRON services also include services to victims of crime, to provide information and resources as they access the criminal justice system.
SAFFRON provides a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment, where the survivor can regain a sense of control and dignity and can begin to reconnect with self and others.
Fees for services are based on a sliding scale. |
